Straight Talking ……About time

Straight Talking ……About time

06 May 2015

As a straight talking Yorkshire man Q the Hovis music, flat cap and whippet….I have often found myself wishing I had a platform that people could say "yes I was thinking that” or "yes if only I could say that without people taking offence”.

I was brought up in a single parent household youngest of 5 free school meals and social security, all my friends lived in the nice big houses and we lived in the cold council house by today's standards we would probably have been in care…but mum did her best and worked two part time cleaning jobs to make ends meet.

Where has that old fashion culture gone, where you worked for what you had not robbed it or sought your 5 minutes of fame from the internet, marry a footballer or win the x factor?

The gap between unemployable and employable is massive now, WHY have we created a Lazy Society or simply given up as the "rich get richer & the poor get poorer". Not everyone can be a Richard Branson or David Beckham but at least you can contribute.

Why is it a god given right to have dole money, this should be for the real in need and believe me, I've seen that from my childhood and now in the community groups I work with, YET there are those who do not want to claim benefit and work, yet they are frowned upon or overlooked as society has pigeon holed them and said they are lazy or the great unwashed.

Government waste so much money on the wrong things giving the support and help to larger prime contractors that have lost reality on the ground and to those organisations that make a real difference who help put people back on the straight and narrow with the "scraps of that table" scandal after scandal A4E,  Group 4 Security, banks, MP's expenses need I say more…..It is socially acceptable for them to take from you and me the tax payer, YET the real needy are seen as parasites!!

Please have a look at this Chanelle's story after she came on one of our courses, she has now passed her LV2  & LV3 and is the best transformation in an individual I've ever seen and I'm so proud of her and so are her family.

Question to ponder, we send millions of pounds to other countries and the British public support causes with millions of pounds yet we have food banks & soup kitchens, why don’t we create a sanctuary for volunteers and the needy to help themselves by putting something in? A simple step, builds confidence self-worth and self-esteem.

There is no need for anyone to be sleeping rough, in need of help or support in my life time so why won’t the MP's stand up and be counted….let me have a go and see what we could change

Until the next time….
